Living Arts College would like to thank Wes Lachot for joining us as the commencement speaker for our 2015 winter graduation. Wes Lachot is an innovative and influential recording studio engineer, known for creating many of the music industry’s finest audio production facilities. His understanding of the principles of organic design and his wide ranging experience in the recording arts give him a unique perspective and the ability to create studios that define state-of-the-art. After studying jazz arranging and composition at Berklee College of Music, Wes spent many years working as a recording engineer, producer and session musician before developing his career as a studio designer in the 1990’s. His design work has been featured in articles and cover stories in many leading recording industry publications. Wes teaches music theory at Catawba College, and occasionally gives lectures at other educational institutions, including a series of lectures at the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture.

Wes gave the graduates several tips to go by when entering the creative industry. Wes says to “Love what you do and do what you love.” Wes encouraged the graduates to never take the cheap route and to always take the job that you can honestly say was worth it in the end. We encouraged the grads to take the time to read books and to take a step back from the constant use of technology. It is important to always pursue knowledge and you will not find that knowledge on the internet alone. Wes said to always be honest in your work and to be kind to others, eventually your clients will realize the type of person that you are and will always come back. Living Arts College and the Graduates of Winter 2015 would like to thank Wes for his kind and encouraging words!
