July 28th, 2015 Professor D.Varone took her first term class, much of whom are animation and interior design majors, to the North Carolina Museum of Art last Tuesday. Our Living Arts College students were engaged in the Teen art display in the East Wing, http://ncartmuseum.org/programs_and_events/view/teen …as well as the special video exhibition “Zoosphere” “Questions may arise: Is the gallery a new zoo? How does this installation allow visitors to appreciate or see these animals in a different light?” by Allison Hunter, whose works frequently tackle man’s effect on the environment and the effects we have on other living creatures, brings these concepts to the forefront in her multichannel video installation Zoosphere. http://ncartmuseum.org/exhibitions/view/12940 The class also viewed the permanent instillations such as the beautiful paintings featuring Italian Art in the West Wing. They all took part in a special afternoon of learning about various displays of artwork & culture, enjoying camaraderie wonderful NCMA, which is one of the marvelous, and educational amenities our Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina has to offer. |
