For his GM403 Game Design Strategies class, Living Arts student Caleb Heidelmeier did a great job on his animated sprite character using Gamemaker software. Using Photoshop, he designed his skull-headed, cape-wearing character (pictured, left). Caleb was given a 38x38 pixel space to use for the character; he then had to utilize what he has learned about creating a good walk cycle to animate his character over eight frames. He then took this into Gamemaker and created an application to make the character move using keyboard controls. The character's cape flapped behind him as he walked around the environment. He even added a red-eyed blink for when his character was idle. Good job, Caleb. |
