Animation instructor Ben Parks reports that student Hunter Williams did an excellent job on his Small Prop Model project (pictured, left) for his GM403, Game Design Strategies, class. The project is the student's first foray into polygon modeling an original object using 3DStudio Max.  Using best practices for polygon modeling learned throughout their time here, this project allows the students to take what they know about what makes a good polygon model, along with good UV layout and texturing, and apply it using a different software package than what they are used to. This is important since, upon graduation, they may be hired by a company that does not use a software package that they are familiar with. This gives them versatility and confidence in their ability to get the job done right, no matter what software package they are using. Good work, Hunter!
