Living Arts College professor Georges Le Chevallier will showcase "The Tanzania Project", a series of 44 photographs from East Africa, at the Seby Jones Art Gallery, 1315 Oakwood Avenue, in Raleigh, NC, til February 28, including an Artist Reception this Saturday, February 16, from 2pm to 4pm. Le Chevallier was named as one of only four recipients nationwide of a Travelocity Travel for Good Grant to journey to Tanzania to volunteer on education, health, and social services initiatives in the community. Le Chevallier traveled with the international non-profit organization Cross Cultural Solutions thru the Kilimanjaro region, thru the city of Bagamoyo on the Indian Ocean coast, thru Tanzania, and thru Zanzibar documenting his journeys with the photos now shown for the first time in this exhibition. One of the photographs, "Low Tide in Bagamoyo Beach", was selected by National Geographic as a finalist for its 2012 Photo Contest. Congrats, Georges Le Chevallier! |
